annual car seat check event canceled due to weather

Due to weather, the remainder of the annual car seat check event has been canceled.

The Oak Ridge Police Department, Oak Ridge Preschool and East Tennessee Children’s Hospital are teaming up to host the annual car seat check event this week.

The car seat check event will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at the Scarboro Community Center, 148 Carver Avenue.

Parents and caregivers are invited to stop by anytime during the hours of 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. Pre-registration is not necessary.

“This is a free service provided to the community. During the event, car seats will be checked for manufacturer recalls and examined for proper installation by certified car seat technicians,” ORPD Lt. Shannah Newman said.

Educational material about car seat safety will also be distributed.
