The City of Oak Ridge Recreation and Parks Department will be offering two art classes this fall: a Fairy Self-Portrait class and a Pop Art Self-Portrait class, both taught by Melissa Bishop.
Participants in the Fairy Self-Portrait class will make a collage of themselves using pressed flowers, leaves, and other objects from nature, along with watercolor and drawing, to create a scene where they are the fairy. This class is for ages 10-14 years old.
Participants in the Pop Art Self-Portrait class will turn themselves into an Andy Warhol-style work of art using colorful acrylic paints on an 8”x11” canvas. This class is also recommended for ages 10-14.
Images from both classes can be framed or saved digitally for use on greeting cards, postcards, magnets, and more. The cost for each six-week session is $75, with all supplies included.
Online registration is open now. Space is limited and spots are expected to fill up prior to the end of the registration period.
Questions or requests for additional information can be directed to the Oak Ridge Recreation and Parks Department at (865) 425-3450.
