Fire Chief Darryl Kerley announced this week that Travis Solomon, Fire Marshal for the City of Oak Ridge Fire Department (pictured at right), has received his professional designation as “Chief Fire Officer” (CFO) through the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE).
The designation is part of a national program designed to recognize individuals who demonstrate excellence in seven measured components: experience, education, professional development, professional contributions, association memberships, community involvement, and technical competencies.
Mr. Solomon came to Oak Ridge from the Tennessee Fire Marshal’s office where he served as the Deputy State Fire Marshal in charge of Fire and Life Safety codes for the buildings and facilities at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, for the past 13 years. Last year, he received his Fire Marshal (FM) designation through CPSE.
“We are delighted to have received this notification as we continue to strive for excellence within our organization,” Chief Kerley said.
The Fire Department also has seven Fire Captains who have achieved a Fire Officer (FO) Designation from CPSE.
