Team registration for the Recreation & Parks Department’s 2017 spring softball and kickball leagues is now open. Softball leagues for men, women, and a co-ed league will be offered during the spring. Softball league participants must be 18 years of age or older.
Teams must complete registration paperwork and pay the applicable registration fee by March 13th for early registration pricing. Teams registering after the early deadline may do so until March 18th, but will be subject to an additional late fee of $25. Teams must contain a minimum of nine players and all players must sign the team’s roster in advance to be eligible to participate. Co-Ed teams must bat an equal number of males and females during games. Games are scheduled to begin the week of April 3rd.
The men’s softball league will take place at Yearwood Park on Monday nights, co-ed softball leagues will play on Tuesday nights, kickball will take place on Wednesday nights, and women’s softball will take place on Thursday nights.
For the first time, the city’s kickball league is open to all players 14 years of age or older. Players must be no younger than 14 and no lower than 9th grade by April 1st to participate. Teams may consist of all adult players, a mix of youth and adult players, or entirely comprised of youth with an eligible captain/coach older than 21. Teams must consist of an even number of males and females.
Individuals wishing to play in either or both sports, but don’t have a team on which they’re already playing, can register as free agents. Those individuals will be placed on a list of players made available for acquisition as needed.
