October 19, 2015 - The Oak Ridge Senior Center, in partnership with the East Tennessee Human Resources Agency, is offering free classes on the use of personal electronic devices such as tablets, smart phones, etc.  Senior Service America awarded a grant to East Tennessee Human Resource Agency Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP). The SCSEP is a National program funded by the US Department of Labor that prepares seniors to re-enter the workforce.

As more seniors are returning to work, having basic computer skills will help them to apply for jobs and compete in the workforce. It will also provide additional opportunities to stay connected to family and friends, as well as using online games and puzzles for intellectual stimulation.  Each registered participant will receive four weekly, one-hour sessions that will cover basic computing skills such as email and using the Internet as well as the basics of using a touchscreen-enabled device.

Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning with a meet and greet with the instructor on October 27th at 10:00 a.m. To register for the class, please call the Senior Center at (865)-425-3999 for available time slots. Space is limited.
