The Oak Ridge Recreation and Parks Department is conducting a lifeguarding class October 5th through 9th from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.   Attendance is required at all classroom and water sessions.  The prerequisite testing will be the first day of class, October 5th.  Students must pass the prerequisite testing at that time to remain in the class.

Prerequisites include a 300-yard continuous swim using the front crawl and breaststroke using rhythmic breathing, a timed 20-yard swim and recovery of a 10-pound weight, and treading water for 2 minutes using legs only.  Students must be 15 years old to be in the class. The fee is $170 payable to the City of Oak Ridge.  All students must be pre-register and have signed releases on file.
