The Oak Ridge Recreation and Parks Department is conducting the American Red Cross Lifeguard course on October 11, 13, 14, and 15, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.   This course is now available in a blended learning format which will include more water sessions.  Attendance is required at all classroom and water sessions. 

The applicant must be at least 15 years old and take a prerequisite test in order to register for this course. The prerequisite test will be held on Wednesday, October 1st at 5:00 pm in the Civic Center indoor pool.  This test will include a 300-yard continuous swim using the front crawl and breaststroke using rhythmic breathing. A timed 20-yard swim, recovery of a 10-pound weight and tread water for 2 minutes using legs only.   

The course fee will be payable once the applicant has passed the prerequisite testing.  The complete fee for this course is $170.00. The applicant will pay $135.00 registration fee to the City of Oak Ridge and $35.00 online to the American Red Cross. Enrollment is limited.
