Applications are currently being accepted for one (1) Oak Ridge High School Student Representatives for the Environmental Quality Advisory Board (EQAB) and one (1) Representative for the Traffic Safety Advisory Board (TSAB).  The only special qualifications for the positions are Oak Ridge residency and current student status at Oak Ridge High School.

Environmental Quality Advisory Board
The purpose of the Board is to serve as an advisory body to Council. When requested by Council, the Board gives advice and assistance in matters contributing to a quality environment. Further, upon request, the Board advises the City Manager and the Oak Ridge Municipal Planning Commission on specific environmental matters. The Board is required to prepare a written report of its activities and recommendations and a proposed program of work for the ensuing year for submission to City Council by September 30 of each year.  The Board is comprised of twelve (12) members, one (1) of whom shall be nominated from the membership of the Oak Ridge Municipal Planning Commission and two (2) of whom shall be Oak Ridge High School (ORHS) students.

The terms for the Oak Ridge High School students is for a two-year term of office beginning June 1, 2013.  The student representatives will share in one vote.

 Traffic Safety Advisory Board
The purpose of the Board is to serve as an advisory body to City Council. In the performance of this function, the Board reviews any traffic safety issue requiring Council approval. Upon request, the Board also gives advice and assistance in other matters concerning traffic safety.  Upon request, the Board may advise the City Manager and the Planning Commission on specific issues. The Board is required to submit an annual report of its activities and recommendations to City Council, along with a recommended program of work for the ensuing year.  The Board is comprised of ten (10) members, one of whom shall be nominated from the membership of the Oak Ridge Municipal Planning Commission and one of whom shall be an Oak Ridge High School (ORHS) student.

The term of office for the Oak Ridge High School student is a one-year term of office beginning June 1, 2013.

Applications and on-line submissions are due on Friday, April 26, 2013 by 5:00 p.m. to the City Clerk’s Office.  The election for these positions will take place at the May 6, 2013 City Council Meeting.
