The Oak Ridge Woman’s Club and the Oak Ridge Recreation and Parks Department will sponsor the annual Christmas tree lighting and reception on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 6:30 p.m.

Participants should gather at the Secret City Commemorative Walk on the east side of the Oak Ridge Library parking lot for a brief ceremony. The Reverend Dr. Carolyn Dipboye, Co-pastor of Grace Covenant Church will lead the invocation, followed by the welcoming of guests by Kathy Wilson, President of the Oak Ridge Woman’s Club. Mayor Tom Beehan will address the crowd and lead the countdown to the lighting of the tree.

Following the tree lighting, a reception will be held in the Civic Center gymnasium. Participants will enjoy refreshments and seasonal music. The entertainment will include the Jefferson Middle School’s Orchestra directed by Jennifer Von Tol, Linden Elementary School’s 3rd and 4th grade chorus under the direction of Erica Hixon, and the Oak ridge Community Band, directed by Dale Pendley.

Refreshments will be provided by the Civic Affairs Committee of the Oak Ridge Woman’s Club: Evelyn Moyers (Chair), Barbara Wantland (Co-chair), Virginia Brock, Betty Eason, and Sarah Kolb.
