Rogers Group, Inc., working under contract to the State of Tennessee Department of Transportation, will begin resurfacing of portions of eight streets located in Oak Ridge on Monday, August 20, 2012.
The streets to be resurfaced are:
Administration Road from Oak Ridge Turnpike to Laboratory Road
Jefferson Avenue from S. Jefferson Circle to Robertsville Road
Outer Drive from Pennsylvania Avenue to New York Avenue
Alger Road from Amherst Lane to Arkansas Avenue
Arkansas Avenue from Alger Road to Atlanta Road
New York Avenue from Oak Ridge Turnpike to E. Vance Road
West Outer Drive from E. Wadsworth Circle to Pennsylvania Avenue
East Tulsa Road from S.R. 62 to Tuskegee Drive
The traveling public should expect lane closures during the project, which should take approximately
six weeks to complete. Local traffic will be able to access homes and business, but through traffic
should seek alternate routes to avoid delays.
Prior to the resurfacing portions of the streets concrete repairs will be done on deteriorated
sidewalks and curb and gutter sections and handicap ramps will be installed. New pavement
marking will be installed after the final surface is in place.
Residents of the streets being milled and/or resurfaced should receive a notice advising them to
have all vehicles removed from the street by 7:00 a.m. on the day of the scheduled milling and/or
resurfacing. Residents planning on being out of town during the resurfacing period are advised to
move their vehicles off of the street before they leave. Vehicles remaining on the street on the day
of the work are subject to being towed.
Inclement weather may cause the schedule to change. Repair of unforeseen conditions such as
subgrade failures may delay the project. After receiving the notice, residents should not park their
vehicles on the streets until after the work has been completed.
The City appreciates the public’s patience. Questions or comments can be directed to the City of
Oak Ridge, Public Works Department at 425-1875.
