The City of Oak Ridge and the Oak Ridge Neighborhood Watch Program will present the 2012 “National Night Out” on Tuesday, August 7th, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. -- 8:00 p.m. The event is free and will be held at Bissell Park and the Oak Ridge Civic Center.
National Night Out is a celebration of crime fighting organizations, such as Neighborhood Watch, and is designed to: (1) heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs; (3) strengthen neighborhood spirit and police/community partnerships; and (4) send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
A wide variety of vendors will participate, focusing on education and making our lives and community safer. Activities include:
· Bounce House & Slide for the kids
· Free Food, Drinks, and Music
· Oak Ridge Police Department & Anderson County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Demos
· Bucket Rides
· Car Seat Safety
· Mobile Tactics Laser Tag
· Computer, Home, and Business Security
· East Tennessee Methamphetamine Task Force Trailer
· Senior Citizen Safety Booths
· Oak Ridge Animal Shelter
· Bullying & Adult self-defense seminars by the Progressive Martial Arts Academy
· TWRA Boating Under the Influence & Firearms Safety Simulators
In addition, the Progressive Martial Arts Academy schedule is as follows:
· 4:30pm Anti-Bullying Seminar “Counter Bully” for ages 4years and up
(parents must remain with your children during)
· 6:30pm Basic Adult Self Defense
