The Oak Ridge Police Department will have an open house on July 14, 2011 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Police Department.
This open house is one of the steps for Police Chief Jim Akagi’s initiative to recruit interested, local residents to the police department.
Applicants must meet a series of requirements for the police department. Some examples of the requirements include being a high school graduate or equivalent, must be 18 years of age, must have an excellent physical condition and moral character, free of criminal conviction records, and applicants will need to complete a 12-month probationary period.
The department is comprised of 61 sworn officers, as well as Animal Control, one grant funded officer, and twelve non-uniform support personnel.
Applications are available on the City’s website at www.oakridgetn.gov or by contacting the Personnel Department at (865) 425-3564 or personnel@oakridgetn.gov. Interested applicants may also visit the Personnel Department at the Municipal Building located at 200 South Tulane Avenue.
