Notice of Vacancy on the Oak Ridge City Council
June 30, 2011, a seat on the City Council of the City of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, became vacant. City Council will appoint a member to fill the vacancy at a special called meeting on July 25, 2011. The person appointed shall serve until the county general election to be held in August 2012, at which time voters will elect a successor to serve the remainder of the unexpired term of office (November 2012).
Any qualified voter of the city is eligible to serve on City Council if he/she has been a resident of the city for one (1) year next preceding the day of appointment and provided that, before taking office, he/she resign any position of employment with the City of Oak Ridge or office filled by state, county, or other municipal public election.
City Council is accepting resumés in application for this seat. The resumé should include the applicant’s full name and address, date of birth, affirmation that he/she is a qualified voter, length of residency in Oak Ridge, and a brief biography. City Council also encourages the applicants to comment on why they wish to serve on City Council and what they envision as the future of Oak Ridge.
Resumés should be addressed to The Honorable Mayor and Members of City Council, City of Oak Ridge, P. O. Box 1, Oak Ridge, TN 37831-0001, Attention: Donna L. Patterson, City Clerk, and delivered by mail or in person at the Office of the City Clerk in the Municipal Building. All resumés must reach the Office of the City Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, July 18, 2011. Resumés received after that time will not be considered for purposes of this appointment.
