Oak Ridge Goes .GOV
The City of Oak Ridge recently registered a new domain name, www.oakridgetn.gov, as part of the overall rebranding of its website.
In order to register for the .GOV domain, the City needed to complete the registration process with the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). The GSA is an independent agency of the federal government that administers all .GOV domains. Use of the domain is restricted to government entities and associations, including state governments, cities, and townships.
“This new domain better represents our organization as a municipal government,” stated City Manager Mark Watson. “The name distinguishes the city from other domains that use ‘Oak Ridge,’ giving us a unique identity. The .GOV domain, coupled with a more professional looking website, serves as a great way to improve our users’ experience and perception.”
Users can update their bookmarks with the new City of Oak Ridge domain, www.oakridgetn.gov.
