February 17, 2011 – SCHEDULED WATER LINE REPAIRS
Oak Ridge, Tenn.—On Saturday, February 19th, the Public Works Department will be installing a 24” main line valve in the median strip of Lafayette Drive. This repair activity may impact traffic on Lafayette Drive near Oak Ridge Turnpike. The department will have both inside lanes closed, but traffic will have access to the outside lanes.
“This work is a result of ‘water main rehab’ that is needed due to broken valves in a pit at the intersection,” explains Public Works Director Gary Cinder.
Crews are also working this week during regular business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) to install valves on both the east and west sides of Lafayette in the turn lane islands. This installation may affect the turn lanes, but traffic to the area will be maintained.
Additional work to complete the pipe installation will be scheduled and announced in the spring.
For more information or questions about the water line repairs, contact the Public Works Department at (865) 425-1875.
