Water Treatment Plant waterline construction impacts traffic

Construction of a new waterline for the Oak Ridge Water Treatment Plant will have an impact on traffic on Union Valley Road and Bear Creek Road.

While crews are working, traffic is being flagged around the work zone and only one lane is open. Overnight and when work isn't being conducted, two lanes are open (one south and one north).  Scheduling notes:

  • During the week of Jan. 8, one southbound and one northbound lane of traffic will be open on Scarboro Road.
  • Both left turn lanes into Y-12 heading north on Scarboro Road will remain closed until the roadway is repaved.

Work is expected to last through the week of January 22 before it's moved out of the roadway and along the grass on Bear Creek Road.

A section of Scarboro Road that was not temporarily paved is set to be paved by the end of the month, weather permitting.
