Not In Our City Cleanup Program

As part of the City of Oak Ridge's Not In Our City (NIOC) campaign, the Public Works Department is pleased to provide the NIOC Clean-up Container Program. Groups and organizations interested in neighborhood clean-ups can reserve a 30-cubic yard clean-up container to dispose of many unwanted materials free of charge.

Organizers may contact the Public Works Department to reserve a container. Reservations should be made at least three days in advance and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Callers will be asked to provide the dates desired, a physical address to deliver the container and the name and contact information for the individual responsible for the event should any issues arise.

Organizers are asked to be sure the area for the container to be placed is clear of vehicles to allow maneuvering room for delivery and pick-up. A City crew will be securing the area for the duration of the event with cones and barrels. The materials accepted for disposal follow the same rules as the annual spring trash and brush collections. This will eliminate any problems in disposing of the materials and everyone's cooperation is appreciated.

Acceptable Materials

  • Household rubbish
  • Furniture
  • Bicycles
  • Swing Sets
  • Appliances (compressors must be removed from refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners)
  • Minor remodeling materials
  • Brush and limbs (limb diameter should be no larger than 3 inches at any point and no longer than 8 feet)
  • Bagged yard clippings and leaves

Unacceptable Materials

  • No hazardous items
  • No tires
  • No paint

Materials should be placed fully within the container with nothing hanging over the top or sides to facilitate transport to the landfill.

The City is excited to be offering this service to our residents to help in cleaning up our neighborhoods.
