friends of the oak ridge public library

The FOL was organized in 1959 to increase the opportunities for the association of persons interested in books and libraries; to increase the facilities and services of the Oak Ridge Public Library; and to enrich the cultural opportunities available to the citizens of the Oak Ridge area. Members do this by selling books and other items at very low prices through Book Sales held several times a year and through the FOL Book Nook in the Library Lobby with materials available for sale all the time. FOL supports ORPL by organizing and funding the children's summer programming, and by buying needed items for the Library that fall outside the annual budget, including publications, the self-service checkout station, and furniture.

New members are always welcome. Annual dues are:

Individual:  $5
Family:  $10
Patron:  $25-$99
Benefactor:  $100 or more
Application for membership:  FOL Membership Application

The book sales would not be possible without the volunteers and Library staff who make it happen.  Anyone who would like to help before, during or after the sale, can contact FOL president, Nancy Hardin at nehardin@hotmail.com.

Current FOL Officers:
President:  Nancy Hardin, Chair, Book sales committee
Vice President:  (OPEN)
Treasurer:  Jan Pierce
Secretary:  Dorothy DeVan
Ex Officio:  Julie Forkner, Library Director
