ebook and audiobooks

Oak ridge public library now offers downloadable eBooks and audiobooks.  Best selling and classic titles available anytime, anywhere.

The Oak Ridge Public Library expanded its service with downloadable eBooks and Audiobooks.  Library card holders can check out and download digital media anytime, anywhere by visiting http://orpl.lib.overdrive.com/

The service allows patrons to browse the library’s website, check out with a valid library card, and download eBooks and audiobooks to PC, Mac, and many mobile devices.  Before downloading the first time, though, patrons will need to install free software to their devices.  For audiobooks, OverDrive Media Console will be available as a free download from the website.  To read eBooks, some patrons will need to install Adobe Digital Editions which is also available as a free download on the website.  Titles can be enjoyed immediately or transferred to a variety of devices, including iPad, Kindle, Nook, and many others.  Some audio titles can also be burned to CD to listen to on-the-go.  Titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period, which means there will never be any late fees!

This new service is powered by OverDrive which is the leading full-service distributor of eBooks, audiobooks, and other digital media to libraries, schools, and retailers across the country.  OverDrive delivers secure management, DRM protection, and download fulfillment services for millions of end users.  The company has been named to the EContent 100 as a company that matters most in the digital content industry.  Founded in 1986, OverDrive is based in Cleveland, Ohio.  Visit their website at www.overdrive.com.
