Oak Ridge City Council to hold two public hearings on FY2021 budget this month
OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (June 12, 2020) – The Oak Ridge City Council will hold two Special Called meetings in the coming weeks to present the proposed FY2021 budget and allow for public hearings.
The meetings will take place on Monday, June 15, and Monday, June 22, at 7 p.m., in the courtroom of the Municipal Building at 200 S. Tulane Avenue. The public hearings will occur during the consideration of the appropriations ordinance for FY2021.
Following the public hearings, City Council will consider the ordinance which aims to provide revenue for municipal purposes for the Fiscal Year beginning on July 1, 2020, by imposing a tax on all property within the City, fixing the rate of the tax, adopting a budget and adopting appropriations.
Copies of the proposed FY2021 budget are available for public review at the Oak Ridge Public Library and the City Clerk’s Office in the Municipal Building during regular business hours. A budget summary can be viewed on the City’s website at oakridgetn.gov.
The meetings will be broadcast live on Comcast Channel 12 and will be streamed live by the City at oakridgetn.gov/councilstreaming.aspx. Both meetings will also be audio- and video-recorded and posted on the City’s website as soon as possible after the meeting. They will be open to the public in accordance with Tennessee Open Meetings Act requirements.
Due to social distancing requirements and limits on the number of individuals that may gather, space in the Courtroom will be limited to 25 people and residents are encouraged to watch the meeting through one of the methods provided above.
Citizens who do not wish to attend but would like to comment on the appropriations ordinance may email their comments to firstname.lastname@example.org by 5 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2020, and Friday, June 19, 2020. Citizen comments will be provided to City Council members prior to the meeting. Citizens should include their name and address for the record just as they do in a normal meeting setting.
