POSTED: February 7, 2019

The City of Oak Ridge Recreation and Parks Department is offering a new “Graphic Novel” Art Class for students in grades 5 through 9. The 12-week session begins February 28, 2019, and registration is open now.

Melissa Bishop will teach the classes at the Oak Ridge Civic Center on Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The session will follow the Oak Ridge Schools’ schedule with no classes during Spring Break and classes ending before Summer Break.

Students will learn figure, object, and landscape drawing, composition, and storytelling techniques. At the end of the 12-week class, participants will be able to take home their mini-graphic novel.

Participants may register for the class by coming to the Civic Center Recreation Building Monday through Saturday between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. or by calling (865) 425-3450.

The fee is $15 per class or $150 for the full 12-week session (a $30 discount). A credit card may be used in person or over the phone to pay for the session in full. Otherwise, only cash or checks are accepted for weekly class payments.

For more information, please call the Civic Center Front Desk at (865) 425-3450 or visit the Recreation and Parks Department online at www.orrecparks.org.
